Transitioning your garden into fall
Updated: Sep 22, 2022
As the mornings get cooler, we start to look forward to fall. Your garden needs a little TLC so it can continue to look great. Start by pulling up the dead perinnials and add a thin layer of composted soil to the ground. Deadhead flowers and start your very own seed collection! This is the time to plant winter plants like pansies, greens, turnips, and annuals (like mums). This is a perfect time to start a compost pile! Mine is in the back corner of my property contained within a pallet fence. Composting is easier than you think and you'll get free rich soil by next spring (also known as "black gold").
